Tax Collector, Water Collector, Deputy Municipal Clerk and Deputy Registrar (Full-Time)

The Borough of Ogdensburg is accepting applications for the full-time position of Tax Collector, Water Collector, Deputy Municipal Clerk and Deputy Registrar. This is a singular opening filling all of the above referenced titles. Duties include, but are not limited to, bookkeeping, calculation, and accounting functions to comply with state law and municipal directives in the collection of property taxes and water utility payments including proper calculation, preparation, and mailing of tax bills, water utility billing, the receipt and detailed accounting of all monies and/or checks received, the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of the activities of the office as required by state law and municipal directive. The job also includes assisting with the duties of the Clerk’s office per Statute and local ordinance, assisting the duties of the Registrar’s office per Statute and local ordinance. Applicants must possess a current valid Certified Municipal Tax Collector’s Certificate issued by the NJ Dept. of Community Affairs and certificate for Certified Municipal Registrar issued by the NJ Dept. of Health, Office of Vital Statistics and Registry. Salary range, $40,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience.

The Borough of Ogdensburg is accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Supervisor in the Department of Public Works. This appointment, if made, would be a provisional appointment under New Jersey Civil Service statues, rules, and regulations, and would trigger an open competitive job announcement for the position. Qualified candidates must be able to supervise and work with employees performing Borough maintenance and related services including but not limited to construction; reconstruction; repairs; improvement of public streets, roads, sidewalks, and buildings; maintenance of public water facilities; debris removal; sewer and storm drain maintenance; sanitation services; snow plowing; grass cutting; operation of public works equipment, vehicles, and machinery; water system maintenance; and maintenance of public recreation facilities. Candidates must possess at least 3 years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of streets, sewer, water, sanitation, or other public work facilities, or similar heavy construction. This position will assume all authority and responsibilities in the absence of the DPW Supervisor. Candidates must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with applicable endorsements for the classes and types of vehicles used by the DPW. Candidates should be able to perform manual labor under all weather conditions. Salary range $50,000 to $65,000 dependent upon qualifications.
